Some days and weeks we are trying to navigate through our to-do list, with the feeling that there is just not enough time in the day to get things done. This leads us to feeling overwhelmed, drained and at a loss as to what we should do to fix the problems that are causing us stress. When we are faced with stress we often times start questioning ourselves. Am I not performing well enough? How has all this unwanted stress affected my family and my friends? We often feel that we are losing control.
Our coach Chris explains how there is a difference between being busy and being active. Being to busy often leads to missed deadlines and missed opportunities. Being active means you have a lot of fascinating things going on in your life. Being active for many of us can be a really good thing, while feeling overwhelmed can often affect our health.
Coach Barrow talks about the four “D’s” and how we can balance our lives in these four categories to help up get back on track.
- Priority # 1 Domestic- Make time for you, your family and your friends.
- Priority # 2 Delivery- being able to deliver your best at your current occupation
- Priority #3 Diagnostics- reviewing work deadlines, scheduling meetings, following up on important projects.
- Priority # 4 Development- preparing for the future.
Try and use the 4 D's as a guide to help you prioritize where to start next.
Remember there are many things we can do to help cut down on stress. When you are feeling overwhelmed, try and take a step back take a deep breath and regroup, make a new plan that will help you to achieve your goals and move forward.
