Creating good oral hygiene habits early on can lead to better oral health throughout an individual’s life. We recommend all our patients to visit our office at least twice a year. Teens often lead very hectic lifestyles with after school activities and sports. We would like to stress the importance of taking of your teeth and your overall health.
As teens head back to school for the New Year, we have listed some tips below.
- As part of your daily routine please brush and floss at least twice per day.
- Use an electric tooth brush if possible.
- Please use a protective mouth guard when playing sports. Mouth guards help protect your teeth, lips, tongue, face and jaw against injuries.
- Please limit energy drinks as they can contain large amounts of sugar. The bacteria in your mouth uses the sugar to produce an acid that weakens the hard outer shell of your teeth, which can increase your chances of cavities over time.
- Eat healthy snacks such as such as fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that can help fight bacteria and reduce plaque buildup on the teeth.
The benefits of attending our office routinely are:
- We can check your dental health and identify any potential problems that might cause future discomfort if left unattended
- We can answer any concerns or problems that may have arisen since your last visit.
- We can give your teeth an overall clean and polish.
- We can help you keep a lovely smile for life!
