David

David, a highly successful executive, was referred to our Wellesley clinic by a loyal patient who trusted he would be in the best hands with us. His main concerns included many years of parafunctional grinding that had caused severe tooth wear, muscle tension, a traumatic bite, shorter teeth, and repeated chipping and fractures. In addition, he had multiple large metal fillings that had developed recurrent decay and required replacement, adding to his overall discomfort and functional challenges.

After our signature diagnostic protocols and Digital Smile Design “test drive,” we developed a comprehensive, staged plan to restore his bite, function, and smile. The first phase involved pre-prosthetic alignment to correct his traumatic bite. During this stage, two teeth with hopeless prognoses and fractured roots from years of grinding were extracted. Once alignment was completed, we performed a post-orthodontic smile test drive to finalize design goals, followed by full porcelain reconstruction and placement of two implants to replace missing premolars on his upper arch.

Periodic occlusal guard and retainer checks at hygiene visits
Maintenance: Airflow® hygiene visits and comprehensive exams every 3–4 months
