Caroline

When Caroline first came to us from Boston, she was recovering from a debilitating medical condition that had kept her hospitalized for nearly a year. During that time, oral health understandably took a back seat, and she developed widespread decay, gum inflammation, enamel erosion, and fractures. She was living with tooth sensitivity, pain, yellow discoloration, and difficulty eating due to a collapsed bite from heavy grinding.

At our Wellesley Smile Design Clinic — the first certified Digital Smile Design clinic in the U.S. — we created a comprehensive, facially guided plan to restore both her health and her smile.

Her upper arch was fully reconstructed with twelve hand-layered porcelain crowns, carefully designed to restore natural proportions and her vertical dimension.

On her lower arch, we combined whitening for her anterior teeth, porcelain crowns on four molars, and composite restorations to repair chipped edges.

The case was finalized with a custom occlusal guard and a clear retainer for long-term protection.

Today, Caroline lives in Florida and returns once a year for her annual check-up — more than 10 years after her treatment. She has remained incredibly stable, needing only a replacement guard and retainer along the way, and continues to enjoy a confident, natural, and pain-free smile.
